17 March 2016

An absolute must for skinning fans is surely the Pizolada delle Dolomiti, one of the most anticipated events in the Alpine ski season that delivers plenty of thrills with a selective route featuring breath-taking views of the snowy peaks of the Passo San Pellegrino, in Val di Fassa.

Sunday, April the 3rd, 2016: mark the date in your calendar to participate in the 40th edition of this famous national Alpine ski race for individuals organized by Val di Fassa Events ASD in association with CAI-SAT and Moena Alpine Rescue. The event is open to everyone, including competitive and non-competitive skiers, thanks to a dual proposal that offers one competitive route for all the categories and a guided excursion on an assisted route.

Things are sure to be spectacular on the Classic route, which, as always, will put even the fittest athletes to a hard test. There are five climbs, including the legendary Canalino Holzer, a steep alpine tract that must be climbed with crampons, skis on your back, all the way to the summit of the Col Margherita (2514 m), and its five descents in fresh snow. The start and finish line will be set up at the valley station of the Col Margherita funicular lift.

The excursionists’ route will instead set off from Malga Negritella (Alochet district, 1767 m) gradually going up through the woods to the district of Ciamp de Ors to then arriving in the majestic atmosphere of Cima Bocche, passing the steep South-western ridge (2745 m).

Registrations are already open and you can sign up until Friday, April 1st, 2016, at the specially reduced price of € 40.00. Then starting on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016, the registration fee will increase to € 50.00 for competitors as well as excursionists. The registration fee includes a race package featuring a beautiful, technical wind-breaking vest, Made in Italy by Mello’s, and a meal ticket for the pasta party afterwards. A medical certificate is required only for the competitors who will take on the Classic route, while all participants must sign a waiver that certifies acceptance of the rules and regulations.

Don’t miss the special offer related to the Ladinia Ski Alp Cup, a special combined event which, starting this year, will combine the Pizolada delle Dolomiti with the 5th Marmoleda Full Gas – Ski Alp Race, scheduled on Saturday, April 9th, 2016. This initiative offers the possibility of participating in two races for just € 70.00 (until April 1st).

Finally, in other big news for 2016, for the entire weekend of the competition, (Saturday and Sunday), a ski preparation and alignment service will be available for only € 15.00.
